Slapert Frowl is a noted miser who previously lived in the apartment currently occupied by Frank and Sadie Doyle. In Making Spirits Fight, he visits the Doyles and is followed by three ghosts. Despite his haunting, Frowl learns nothing from the encounter. Recovering some old mail from the Doyles, however, he finds a bottle of whiskey from his dead father, which starts his long alcoholic path to death.
